The buzz around a shiny bling on the fingers of our beloved stars lasts for years. And why shouldn’t it? The magnificence of rocks purchased by A-list celebrities is extravagant enough to make just anybody gasp for air. So wait no more, and take a look at the most famous celebrity diamond engagement rings down below.
CEYLON SAPPHIRE OF LADY DIANA SPENCER
In February 1981, Charles, Prince of Wales, gave Lady Diana Spencer a breathtaking engagement ring, comprised of a 12 carat oval blue Ceylon Sapphire that is surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds, all embedded in 18 karat white gold.
To everyone’s surprise, the engagement ring was not exclusive or custom made. In fact, it was included in the jewellery collection of designer Gerrard and made available to the general public at the time of Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ engagement.
The beautiful memory of Princess Diana was inherited by her elder son William, eventually falling into the finger of Catherine Middleton in the fall of 2010 in Kenya. William said it was a way of making his mother part of the occasion.
KRUPP DIAMOND OF ELIZABETH TAYLOR
Elizabeth Taylor married a total of eight times, twice to a renowned Welsh actor, Richard Burton. Her assemblage of jewellery was even more significant than her collection of men. One of the most noteworthy was a 33.19 carat Krupp Diamond that was presented to her in 1968 by her husband, Richard Burton. Now known as The Elizabeth Taylor diamond, it was an Asscher cut with a significantly large culet facet. The couple had also bought a 68-carat diamond in 1969.
CARTIER RING OF GRACE KELLY
A regal romance between Rainier III, Prince of Monaco and the famous star Grace Kelly was sealed in 1955 with a gorgeous platinum Cartier ring, made of a 10.47-carat emerald-crafted diamond accompanied by two banquettes on either side. Reports suggest that the Prince had initially proposed to Kelly with a modest ring, however, after witnessing the rocks her counterparts in the industry were flaunting, he surprised her with the Cartier.
VINTAGE ART RING OF JACQUELINE KENNEDY
The 35th President of the United States asked Jacqueline Lee Bouviere to marry him in June 1953 with an engagement ring that incorporated a 2.84-carat emerald and 2.88-carat diamond. Designed by Van Cleef & Arpels, the ring boasted many baguettes which gave the jewellery a flowery appearance.
Additional 2.12 carat of marquise and varying diamonds were added to the ring in 1963 to make it suitable for a First Lady. The jewellery ended up weighing a total of 8 carats.
